My passion for sculpting began 17+ years ago when I was invited to join Marjorie P. Applegate in her sculpture studio. Working with such a beautifully gifted, imaginative and accomplished sculptor inspired me to create a body of work ranging from alabaster to granite exploring each with hammer and chisel. My objective is to bring out the soul of each stone through organic form.
My oil paintings are inspired by moments of beauty, my sculpture in its’ environment, and people! It is the portraiture that holds my focus - ever challenging and completely satisfying in the discovery of each individual. Oil is the medium that brings out the true joy of painting for me and playing with an idea of what is, and how I imagine it to be.
